Mezzo-soprano Megan Roth — a vibrant and versatile artist celebrated for her “rich character portrayals” and “versatile voice.”

Megan shines across opera, oratorio, art song, and chamber music, from early to contemporary works. Her operatic credits include Dorabella in Così fan tutte with Boston Midsummer Opera and

Opera Providence, and roles in Maria Padilla, Béatrice et Bénédict, Trouble in Tahiti, La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein, La Cenerentola, L’isola Disabitata, and Giulio Cesare.

  • Ms. Roth holds an Artist Certificate in Opera and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music with honors in Violin Performance from DePaul University.

  • Megan was a finalist twice in The American Prize Competition: in 2020 for the Ernst Bacon Memorial Prize in American Music and in 2014 for both the Chicago Oratorio Award and the Opera Division.

White Snake Projects

Megan made a splash with the activist opera company White Snake Projects, setting a record for the fastest costume changes in her debut of three roles.

New England Repertory Orchestra

Her performance of Berlioz’s La mort de Cléopâtre with the New England Repertory Orchestra took audiences on an emotional rollercoaster

Boston Midsummer Opera

Her “smoldering” and comedic Tisbe in La Cenerentola with Boston Midsummer Opera earned rave reviews. Her playful and dynamic Despina in Così fan tutte marked a triumphant return to live theater for the company post-pandemic.


Roth has performed as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Summer Garden Opera and as Meg in Little Women with MassOpera. Her notable concert engagements include performing as a soloist in Copland’s In the Beginning with Vox Humana in Dallas, Texas, Handel’s Messiah with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra, Dixit Dominus with the Metropolitan Chorale, Bach’s B Minor Mass, Magnificat and Weihnacht’s Oratorium, Gretchaninov’s Passion Week, de Falla’s El amor brujo, Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore and Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria & Magnificat, and Duruflé Requiem

Megan leads a New England-based group known for its innovative and culturally resonant art song programs, blending contemporary and traditional works.

  • As a distinguished chamber musician, she regularly performs with esteemed national ensembles including the GRAMMY®-nominated Skylark Vocal Ensemble and True Concord, Yale Choral Artists, and Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble. Megan is also an accomplished violinist and appears on two GRAMMY®-nominated albums with the Skylark Vocal Ensemble.

  • She is featured as both a vocalist and violin soloist on the 2021 GRAMMY®-nominated album It’s a Long Way. Most recently, she performed on Skylark’s 2024 GRAMMY®-nominated album Clear Voices in the Dark, and joined the ensemble at the GRAMMY® Awards ceremony to celebrate this powerful and moving project.

Megan enjoys swimming and hiking with her husband Adam and their two totally spoiled Boston Terriers, Bronx and Brooklyn.
